On this first day of December, the streets of Newcastle are getting a makeover. Crews were busy this morning changing the light post banners on Coal Creek Parkway from the “Newcastle Days” theme to a holiday theme. If you’ve driven by Newcastle Fruit and Produce lately, you know the entire lot is now one huge Christmas tree sales extravaganza. It’s a good reminder to Shop Local this holiday season. Gift certificates for local businesses, services and restaurants make great gifts and go a long way toward helping our neighbors during these tough economic times. In addition to shopping locally leading up to Christmas, remember that Saturday, December 13 is the big Santa Parade downtown with the Newcastle Elementary Chorus performing carols from noon to 1pm.
